On the Outside
This piece represents a major turning point in my creative journey, born from a deep exploration of peace found in solitude. 'On the Outside' isn't just a title; it’s a perspective on observing the world's beauty from a distance.
Technically, this painting served as a breakthrough for my 'Blind-Sighted' process. To achieve the luminous, ethereal glow of the city lights, I moved away from traditional methods and developed a layering technique using white acrylic paint-pens for the 'hot' highlights, followed by transparent Water Mixable Oil (WMO) color washes. This allowed for a depth of color and light that stays vibrant without cracking over time. I am incredibly proud that this piece toured galleries across Ohio and found its way into a private collection, proving that a unique vision can bridge the gap between the artist's mind and the viewer's eye.
Covenant Path
In this evocative piece, a silhouetted figure navigates a serene winter landscape, holding a lantern that casts warm glow along the path. As the soft light illuminates the way, the figure moves purposefully toward a charming church perched on a distant hill. The scene captures a sense of longing and grace, embodying a journey illuminated by love and hope. This moment reflects a harmonious blend of light and silence, inviting viewers to contemplate their own paths toward solace and belonging.
"Wrapped up in You"
This painting, much like the book that was released shortly after its completion, tells the captivating story of two young lovers. He plays the guitar, and she plays the fiddle, both competing against each other in a country music TV contest. Little do they know that their journey is intertwined, as they had first met years earlier through email and are destined to reconnect. Sound interesting? check out the book by Jennifer Carr. Portal to New Realms
In this episode of the commission spotlight, we turn to a futuristic wasteland in a universe called Shadow Run. Our three adventurers stand atop one of the highest buildings in the city looking toward a portal to a futuristic wasteland. They peer into the gateway ready to jump into a new world to conquer... I felt this piece would be a fantastic use of some novelty glow in the dark paints... The result is outstanding, especially in comparison to the heavy texture matte black paint in the silhouette which I purchased from Gaffrey Art Materials.
Window to Happiness
Everyone has a special fondness for Bob! This artwork was commissioned by a neighbor of mine. For this project, he specifically requested I create a scene featuring Bob Ross painting inside a window, aimed at beautifying his office, which at that time was devoid of any décor. It was a delightful challenge to bring a touch of creativity and warmth to his workspace.
Classy & Shorty
"This was my first time attempting a pet portrait! Before I even purchase the canvas or think about putting paint to canvas, I mockup every piece using Procreate on my iPad... I enjoyed the entire process of creating this piece, especially getting to personally deliver the piece. It was a pleasure to meet Shorty and Classy. Their dad loves them very much!
